In July 2023, over 1 million individuals joined the organised workforce, reveals National Statistical Office (NSO) data. Of these, 752,164 were male, 274,967 were female, and 12 belonged to other categories. Notably, 331,541 individuals in the 18-21 age group joined, along with 268,872 in the 22-25 age group, and 101,130 in the 26-28 age group.
Additionally, 150,439 joined in the 29-35 age group, and 167,339 in the over 35 age group. However, 424,433 members ceased EPF subscriptions in the same month. A report by Azim Premji University highlighted the need for increased job creation efforts, as 42% of graduates under 25 remained unemployed post-COVID-19.
