Karnataka Declares Holiday to Mourn Former PM Manmohan Singh's Death

On December 27, 2024, Karnataka declared a public holiday to mourn the passing of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who died at the age of 92 due to age-related health issues. The state government announced that schools, colleges, and offices would remain closed. The Union Government has also declared a seven-day national mourning period, with the national flag flying at half-mast. While government offices in Telangana are closed today, there's no confirmation of a nationwide public holiday. Banks are open except in Kohima, Nagaland, where it's a Christmas holiday.
