Kohli Craze: Tickets Fly for IND vs SA ODI in Vizag

13 Jan, 2026

Virat Kohli's phenomenal performance has created a buzz in Visakhapatnam ahead of the third ODI between India and South Africa. The series stands at 1-1, raising the stakes for this crucial match at the ACA-VDCA Stadium. Fans are eagerly anticipating the match, especially after Kohli's match-winning century in Ranchi.

Initially, ticket sales for the decisive game were sluggish, as reported by The Indian Express. The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) opted for an entirely online ticketing system this time. However, all that changed dramatically after Kohli's stellar performance, which led to a rapid surge in ticket sales.

Tickets were priced between ₹1200 and ₹18000. The first phase of sales began on November 28, but response was underwhelming. Yet, after Kohli scored a century just before the second phase went live, the scenario flipped. Y Venkatesh from the ACA mentioned that Kohli's remarkable record in Visakhapatnam played a significant role in the sudden spike in interest.

Not only did ticket sales soar, but fans also flocked to the airport in hopes of catching a glimpse of Kohli and the Indian team. Unfortunately, they faced delays as the flight from Raipur was held up. This anticipation reflects Kohli's immense popularity in the cricketing world.

Kohli boasts an impressive record in Vizag, having played only seven ODIs here, scoring 587 runs, including three centuries and a near-century of 99. His first hundred in this city was against Australia in 2010, followed by another against the West Indies the next year. His consistent performance makes him a fan favorite, and expectations are high for the upcoming ODI.

In the first ODI in Ranchi, Kohli scored 135 runs, contributing significantly to India's total of 349/8. South Africa, in reply, could only manage 332 runs. In the second ODI in Raipur, Kohli again shone with the bat, alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad, with both scoring centuries, helping India set a target of 358/5. However, South Africa snatched victory with Aiden Markram scoring an impressive 110.

As the third ODI approaches, cricket fans are gearing up for an exciting match. With Kohli in form and the series hanging in the balance, this game promises not just competitive cricket but also a showcase of one of India's greatest players. The match is set to start at 1:30 PM IST, and it’s an event no cricket lover will want to miss.
