Y Venkatesh from the ACA mentioned that Kohli's remarkable record in Visakhapatnam played a significant role in the sudden spike in interest.
Not only did ticket sales soar, but fans also flocked to the airport in hopes of catching a glimpse of Kohli and the Indian team. Unfortunately, they faced delays as the flight from Raipur was held up. This anticipation reflects Kohli's immense popularity in the cricketing world.
Kohli boasts an impressive record in Vizag, having played only seven ODIs here, scoring 587 runs, including three centuries and a near-century of 99. His first hundred in this city was against Australia in 2010, followed by another against the West Indies the next year.
