Rural workers in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat receive the country's lowest daily wages, as per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data. In MP, male agricultural workers earn a mere Rs 229.2 daily, well below the national average of Rs 345.7, while Gujarat trails at Rs 241.9.
The monthly earnings may not adequately cover household expenses. In contrast, Kerala, offering the highest wage at Rs 764.3, provides significantly better monthly income.
The data highlights disparities in rural wages across states, impacting living standards and rural demand. The Crisil study emphasizes the critical role of weather and wage growth in rural income prospects.
