LPG Cylinder Prices Cut in Major Indian Cities

07 Nov, 2025

In a significant development for small and medium-sized enterprises, the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders has been reduced across major metropolitan cities in India, effective from November 1. This cut is expected to provide much-needed relief to businesses that heavily depend on LPG, such as restaurants, hotels, and catering services.

According to the latest update from state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs), the new retail price of a commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi now stands at Rs 1,590.50, reflecting a decrease of Rs 5 from the previous rate of Rs 1,595.50. Meanwhile, Kolkata has recorded the highest reduction, with prices falling by Rs 6.50, bringing the cylinder's cost to Rs 1,694.00.

Other major cities have also experienced price cuts. In Mumbai, the new price is Rs 1,542.00, down by Rs 5, while in Chennai, the price has been reduced by Rs 4.50, bringing it to Rs 1,750.00. These adjustments come after a period of fluctuating prices, which included a Rs 15.50 hike announced in September for the same 19 kg cylinder.

The reduction in LPG cylinder prices is particularly timely, as many businesses continue to recover from the economic impact of the pandemic. High operational costs can severely affect their profitability, making this price adjustment a welcome change. It is hoped that this price reduction will help stabilize operational expenses for those in the hospitality and catering sectors, ultimately benefiting consumers as well.

Despite these changes in the commercial LPG sector, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders have remained unchanged across all cities. This stability is crucial for households that rely on domestic gas for cooking and other daily needs. The government’s decision to maintain these prices despite fluctuations in the commercial sector indicates a focus on keeping household expenses in check while supporting small businesses.

In conclusion, while the reduction in commercial LPG cylinder prices brings a sigh of relief to many businesses, it also underscores the ongoing challenges and volatility in the energy market. Stakeholders will be keeping a close watch on future trends and price adjustments as they navigate this dynamic landscape.
