Retail inflation for agricultural and rural laborers inched up to 6.70% and 6.55% respectively in September. This slight increase is attributed to higher prices of essential commodities like rice, pulses, turmeric, onions, sugar, and spices. The food inflation rates stood at 8.06% for agricultural laborers and 7.73% for rural laborers during this period.
The state-wise index varied, with Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh recording the highest points in their respective categories. Uttar Pradesh saw the most significant increase due to rises in various commodities. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh experienced a decrease primarily in the prices of millets, fruits, and vegetables.
