Nifty Drops to 24,750 as Sensex Falls 495 Points; IT Sector Shines Amid Auto Decline

The Nifty index closed at 24,750, with the Sensex down 495 points. The auto sector faced significant losses, dragging the market down, while the Information Technology sector saw a rise of 1%.

Key Nifty losers included Bajaj Auto, Shriram Finance, Hero MotoCorp, Nestle, and M&M, all falling sharply. In contrast, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, L&T, Power Grid Corp, and SBI were among the gainers. Most sectoral indices closed lower, with auto, media, and realty sectors down by 2-3%. Additionally, BSE midcap and smallcap indices lost over 1%, indicating widespread selling pressure across the market.
