In just under two months, the Nifty has dropped 10% from its peak of 26,277, and the Sensex has plunged by over 8,300 points, dipping below the 78,000 mark.
If these indices fall more than 20% from their highs, they’ll officially enter bear market territory. Retail investors are already feeling the pressure, as over 900 stocks with market caps above Rs 1,000 crore have lost at least 20% from their 52-week highs. While domestic investors remain hopeful, foreign funds are moving out, especially as China’s market looks attractive with low valuations and recent stimulus efforts.
