OpenAI Acquires Chat.com in Multi-Million-Dollar Deal

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has acquired the domain chat.com, marking its third sale in two years.

Initially bought by HubSpot founder Dharmesh Shah for over $15.5 million last year, the domain was later sold for a profit. This time, OpenAI paid what’s expected to be an even higher price, reflecting the domain's high demand and value. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman highlighted the acquisition with a simple one-word tweet, “chat.com.” The move strengthens OpenAI’s position, aligning perfectly with its chat-driven technology and expanding its digital reach.
