BSNL, the state-owned telecom operator, welcomed over 55 lakh new users between July and October 2024, following tariff increases by Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea in June.
It saw 15 lakh users porting in July, rising to 21 lakh in August. However, this dipped to 11 lakh in September and 7 lakh in October. Port-outs also dropped significantly during this period. Despite this growth, BSNL faces challenges like a steep decline in Wi-Fi subscribers and stiff competition from Jio and Airtel in broadband services.
