Oil companies, under the directive of Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, have slashed petrol and diesel prices by ₹2, effective March 15. This move aims to benefit millions of vehicle owners, including six crore car users and 27 crore two-wheeler riders. The reduction not only promises increased consumer spending but also lowers operating costs for over 58 lakh heavy goods vehicles reliant on diesel. Moreover, it is anticipated to stimulate various sectors such as tourism, transportation, and agriculture while curbing inflation. Prior to the cut, petrol prices stood at ₹96.72 in Delhi, ₹106.31 in Mumbai, ₹106.03 in Kolkata, and ₹102.63 in Chennai, with diesel prices ranging from ₹89.62 to ₹94.27 across different cities.
