Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has voiced concerns about the rapid growth of e-commerce in India, labeling it a “matter of concern.” He highlighted issues like predatory pricing by e-commerce platforms and the negative impact on traditional retail jobs.
During the launch of the report on e-commerce's impact on employment and consumer welfare, Goyal questioned whether such pricing strategies benefit the country. He also pointed out that investments by major e-commerce companies, like Amazon’s billion-dollar commitment, often mask underlying financial losses rather than contributing positively to the Indian economy.
