Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal clarified that the Indian government supports e-commerce but stresses the need for fair competition between online and offline businesses.
At an event in Mumbai, Goyal emphasized that India welcomes foreign direct investment (FDI) and advanced technology, recognizing the convenience and benefits of e-commerce. However, he raised concerns about the impact on traditional retail, particularly the loss of market share and jobs in small businesses due to discounted products from online giants like Amazon.
