Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal revealed that investments under the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme reached INR 1.46 lakh crore by August 2024 and are expected to surpass INR 2 lakh crore shortly.
The PLI scheme covers 1,300 manufacturing units across 14 sectors, with 140 companies actively participating in discussions led by Goyal. The scheme was revised in May, allowing more manufacturers to start production. This initiative aims to boost local manufacturing and strengthen India's global position in sectors like electronics, automotive, and textiles.
