08 Nov, 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently flagged off four new Vande Bharat Express trains, marking a significant step in enhancing India's rail connectivity. These semi-high-speed trains, developed by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, are set to revolutionize train travel across the nation.

The newly launched trains will operate on routes including Banaras–Khajuraho, Lucknow–Saharanpur, Firozpur–Delhi, and Ernakulam–Bengaluru. Each of these routes is designed to significantly reduce travel times and improve regional mobility, which is crucial for economic development and tourism in India.

One of the standout services is the Banaras–Khajuraho Vande Bharat, which will save approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes compared to current special trains. This route connects some of India's most revered cultural sites, making it easier for pilgrims and tourists to visit places like Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Khajuraho. The direct connectivity provided by this train is expected to boost religious and cultural tourism significantly.

Another important route is the Lucknow–Saharanpur Vande Bharat, which will take about 7 hours and 45 minutes, saving nearly an hour of travel time. This train will benefit passengers from several cities in Uttar Pradesh, making it easier to access the holy city of Haridwar through Roorkee. Improved intercity travel will foster regional development and connectivity in central and western Uttar Pradesh.

The Firozpur–Delhi Vande Bharat Express will be the fastest on this route, completing the journey in just 6 hours and 40 minutes. This train strengthens the link between the national capital and key cities in Punjab, such as Firozpur, Bathinda, and Patiala. Its introduction is likely to boost trade, tourism, and employment opportunities, which are vital for the socio-economic development of border areas.

Lastly, the Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat will cut travel time by over 2 hours, making the journey in 8 hours and 40 minutes. This train connects major IT and commercial hubs, providing professionals, students, and tourists with a faster travel option. The route is expected to promote economic activity and tourism between Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, supporting regional growth and collaboration.

Overall, with the launch of these new Vande Bharat trains, India is taking a significant leap towards modernizing its rail infrastructure, ultimately making travel more accessible and convenient for millions of passengers.
