12 Dec, 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on a significant four-day visit to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman from December 15 to 18. This journey reflects India's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in trade and defense sectors with these nations.

The first leg of Modi's trip will take place in Jordan from December 15 to 16. Invited by King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, Modi aims to review the extensive bilateral relations and engage in discussions on pressing regional issues. This visit signifies an opportunity to enhance India-Jordan engagement and explore new avenues for growth and prosperity, while reaffirming India's dedication to promoting regional peace and stability.

Following Jordan, Modi will travel to Ethiopia for a two-day visit from December 16 to 17. This marks his first visit to the East African nation. In the capital city of Addis Ababa, he is scheduled to hold comprehensive talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, focusing on various aspects of their bilateral relationship. As partners in the Global South, this visit aims to reaffirm the shared commitment between India and Ethiopia to foster close ties and cooperation.

In the final leg of his trip, Modi will visit Oman from December 17 to 18, at the invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. This will be Modi’s second visit to Oman, where both nations are expected to finalize a free trade agreement. India's relationship with Oman is characterized by a deep-rooted strategic partnership, enhanced by centuries-old bonds of friendship, trade connections, and people-to-people ties.

Modi's visit to Oman also marks a significant milestone, celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and Oman, following Sultan Tarik's state visit to India in December 2023. This visit will allow both countries to comprehensively review their bilateral partnership in areas such as trade, investment, energy, defense, technology, agriculture, and culture, while also discussing regional and global issues of mutual concern.
