The Pune Ring Road project, aimed at reducing city traffic and boosting suburban development, has seen its cost soar to Rs 42,711.03 crore, following a recent Maharashtra cabinet approval for an additional Rs 20,375.21 crore.
Divided into eastern and western segments, the road will span 128.08 km. The eastern segment’s cost rose to Rs 19,932.98 crore, while the western part jumped to Rs 22,778.05 crore. Delays have occurred due to land acquisition issues, design updates, and rising material costs. PMRDA has now allocated funds in the 2024-25 budget to begin work.
