Ramaswamy's Bold Plan for Ohio: Zero Income Tax

08 Jan, 2026

Indian-American Vivek Ramaswamy is making headlines as he runs for the Governor of Ohio, promising to eliminate the state income tax. This bold proposal is aimed at allowing Ohioans to keep more of their hard-earned money. Speaking at a campaign rally in Cleveland, he confidently stated, “It is your money, not the government's.” Ramaswamy believes that if nine other states can operate without an income tax, Ohio can too.

Ramaswamy, a tech billionaire, emphasized the importance of efficiency in government operations. He mentioned that effective governance is not a complex task, emphasizing that it requires a businessman’s mindset rather than a bureaucratic approach. His campaign is focused on delivering results, stating, “Ohioans don’t want strongly worded social media posts. They want results.”

In addition to abolishing the income tax, Ramaswamy has promised the “biggest property tax rollback” in Ohio’s history, arguing that homes and land belong to the people, not the government. He aims to improve the performance of public schools while implementing these tax reforms, showcasing his commitment to education and financial relief for residents.

Ramaswamy's campaign is gaining traction, especially with endorsements from influential figures, including former President Donald Trump. As he prepares for the 2026 gubernatorial election, he has selected Ohio Senate President Rob McColley as his running mate. Ramaswamy believes that McColley’s legislative experience will complement his entrepreneurial background, allowing them to push forward an aggressive policy agenda.

The Ohio gubernatorial election is set for November 3, 2026. As Ramaswamy continues to rally support, his message of reduced taxes and efficient governance resonates with many voters. The election promises to be closely watched, as Ohioans weigh their options for the future leadership of their state.
