Ransomware Hits 300 Small Banks, Isolated from Payment Network

A ransomware attack on C-Edge Technologies, a banking tech provider, has disrupted payment systems for nearly 300 small banks across India.

The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) isolated C-Edge from the retail payments network to prevent further spread. Affected banks, mostly outside big cities, serve a minor part of India's payment volume. Both C-Edge and the Reserve Bank of India have not commented. NPCI is auditing to contain the impact and ensure customer safety.
