RBI Slaps Fines on Co-operative Banks for Rule Violations

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has levied fines totaling Rs 60.3 lakh on five co-operative banks for breaching regulatory norms. Rajkot Citizens Co-operative Bank faces a penalty of Rs 43.30 lakh for favoring directors and their associates, violating RBI directives. The Kangra Co-operative Bank (New Delhi), Rajdhani Nagar Co-operative Bank (Lucknow), District Co-operative Bank Garhwal, and District Co-operative Bank Dehradun each received fines ranging from Rs 2-5 lakh. These penalties underscore RBI's commitment to regulatory compliance, ensuring that bank-customer agreements remain unaffected.
