The Railway Senior Citizens Welfare Society (RSCWS) has appealed to the Finance Minister to implement the recommendation of a Parliamentary Standing Committee regarding pension increments. The committee suggested an additional 5% pension at 65, 10% at 70, 15% at 75, and 20% at 80. The Ministry of DoP&PW also emphasized early adoption of these suggestions.
Although the government appears to support the idea, it hasn't been implemented due to financial concerns. The RSCWS urges for the proposal's sympathetic review, taking into account the increasing challenges faced by pensioners with age. This move seeks to address the growing financial strain on elderly pensioners due to rising costs of living and healthcare.
