Samsung workers in Tamil Nadu ended a strike lasting over a month, demanding better pay, improved working conditions, and recognition of their newly-formed union. Around 1,500 workers participated in the protest, which began on September 9 at the Chennai factory, one of Samsung's key production hubs. Although Samsung hasn’t recognized the union yet, it has agreed to discuss other key demands, including higher wages and medical insurance. The strike, one of Samsung's largest in recent years, threatened India's push to become a major global manufacturing hub. Workers returned to their jobs after a meeting with officials.
