SEBI Introduces Optional T+0 Settlement Cycle for Top 500 Stocks

SEBI Introduces Optional T+0 Settlement Cycle for Top 500 Stocks

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced that from December 31, investors will be able to trade and settle stocks of the top 500 companies within the same day under the T+0 settlement cycle. This means transactions will be completed on the same day, enhancing liquidity and reducing settlement risks. Currently, stocks follow a T+2 cycle, where settlement occurs two days after the transaction. The move is expected to bring efficiency to markets, benefiting both investors and traders. The new system will initially apply to the most liquid stocks, with plans for expansion later.
