Sensex, Nifty End Marginally Lower; Auto, FMCG Stocks Shine

The Sensex and Nifty closed lower on December 24, 2024, dragged down by losses in metal and power stocks. Key losers on the Nifty included Power Grid Corp, JSW Steel, SBI Life Insurance, IndusInd Bank, and Grasim Industries. On the upside, stocks like Tata Motors, Adani Enterprises, Eicher Motors, BPCL, and ITC saw buying interest. The auto, FMCG, oil & gas, pharma, and realty sectors performed well, while IT, media, metal, and PSU Bank stocks saw selling pressure. The BSE midcap index remained flat, while the smallcap index gained 0.3%.
