The Italian Open semifinal match between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev faced multiple interruptions due to rain, ultimately leading to its suspension. Tournament organizers confirmed that the match will resume at 3 PM local time on Saturday, just two hours before the scheduled women's final featuring Coco Gauff and Elina Svitolina.

The weather conditions at Foro Italico proved challenging throughout the day, disrupting play several times. Eventually, the situation became unplayable late in the third set, prompting the decision to suspend the match. Both players were visibly affected by the demanding conditions, with Sinner appearing to struggle, especially during the second set.

Prior to this semifinal, Sinner had shown remarkable form, cruising through the tournament and extending one of the most dominant stretches in recent ATP history. His performance in the earlier rounds hinted at his potential to become a serious contender for the title.

Victory in this match would not only advance Sinner to the final but also keep alive his hopes of becoming the first Italian man to win the prestigious Italian Open title in decades. The 24-year-old is also on a quest to complete the Career Golden Masters, which involves winning all nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments. This is a remarkable achievement that only Novak Djokovic has accomplished so far.

The winner of the suspended semifinal will face Casper Ruud in the championship match. Ruud had earlier progressed to the final by defeating Luciano Darderi with a commanding score of 6-1, 6-1 in another rain-affected semifinal. As the tournament unfolds, the anticipation builds for an exciting finale, showcasing the competitive spirit of tennis at its best in Italy.
