Star Health, India's largest health insurer, has been hit by a cyberattack that led to a ransom demand of $68,000 from a hacker. This incident follows a data leak revealing sensitive customer information, including medical records and tax details. Star Health has initiated internal investigations and filed legal actions against the hacker and Telegram, where the data was leaked. Although the company claims it is a victim of a targeted cyberattack, they have not found any wrongdoing by their Chief Security Officer, Amarjeet Khanuja, as investigations continue.
