Today, on May 1, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) are closed in observance of Maharashtra Day (Labour Day). This means trading in various financial instruments like derivatives, equities, and currency derivatives is halted for the day. However, the commodity derivatives segment will have a partial shutdown, operating in the evening session only. Both BSE and NSE will resume trading on May 2. Yesterday's market session witnessed volatility, ending lower due to selling pressure in sectors like IT, metal, media, and oil & gas.
