Stock Market Crash: BSE Sensex Drops Over 1,000 Points Today

The Indian stock market crashed today, with BSE Sensex falling 1,064 points (1.30%) to close at 80,684.45, and Nifty50 dropping 332 points (1.35%) to 24,336.00.

The decline was driven by investor caution ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s meeting on December 18, where a rate cut is expected. Additionally, China’s slower economic growth and a stronger US dollar pressured markets. India's record trade deficit of Rs 37.84 billion also added to the negative sentiment. Major stocks like Reliance, Infosys, and HDFC Bank led the drop, while a few like Tata Motors and HUL showed positive movement.
