Tata Electronics will acquire a 60% stake in Pegatron’s iPhone plant in Tamil Nadu, forming a joint venture. This move strengthens Tata’s role as an Apple supplier and supports Apple’s efforts to expand production in India. Tata will manage operations, while Pegatron retains 40% and provides technical support. The plant employs 10,000 workers and produces 5 million iPhones annually. Tata already runs an iPhone plant in Karnataka and is building another in Hosur. The deal, backed by Apple, awaits Competition Commission of India approval.
