Jyoti Bansal, an Indian-origin entrepreneur, sold his startup, AppDynamics, to Cisco for $3.7 billion in 2017, turning 400 of his employees into millionaires.
Bansal, who founded the company in 2008, described the sale as the "hardest decision" of his career. Though the deal secured a better future for nearly 1,200 employees, Bansal found it to be the "saddest day" of his life. He loved building the company but felt there was unfinished business. Today, he leads two new startups, Traceable and Harness.
