The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is currently facing a significant internal crisis, as a faction of around 20 rebel MPs, led by Kakoli Ghosh, has expressed their desire to align with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). This turmoil comes on the heels of a revolt among the party's MLAs, raising serious concerns about a potential split within TMC, which has been under pressure following its electoral losses in West Bengal.

On Monday, these MPs met with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at a BJP minister's residence, indicating a shift in their political allegiance. They also plan to formally request the Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, for separate seating arrangements in Parliament, further solidifying their break from the party.

As the TMC grapples with its internal divisions, Mamata Banerjee, the party's leader, attended a critical meeting of the INDIA bloc in Delhi. Here, opposition leaders from various parties convened to discuss strategies and unite against the BJP for the upcoming 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge reported that 25 parties participated in the meeting and made five key resolutions, emphasizing the need for frequent collaboration.

The meeting is crucial for mending relationships among opposition parties, especially after the TMC and its ally DMK faced electoral setbacks. However, the absence of some significant parties, like the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and DMK, raised eyebrows, suggesting fractures within the alliance.

With TMC's recent electoral defeat still fresh, the party's leadership faces intense scrutiny. The internal dissent, led by MPs who once stood firmly with Banerjee, reflects growing discontent over governance issues in West Bengal, such as unemployment and lawlessness.

Mamata Banerjee is now tasked with not only addressing these internal challenges but also strategizing for a united front against the NDA. The future of TMC and its role in West Bengal's political landscape hangs in the balance as rumors of a split intensify.

As the political scenario evolves, the actions of these rebel MPs could significantly reshape the dynamics of both TMC and the broader opposition landscape in India, highlighting the ongoing struggle for power and influence in the region.
