The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is set to implement a new policy starting October 1, 2024, that will block all SMS messages containing non-approved URLs, Android Package Kits (APKs), or Over-the-Top (OTT) links. This directive aims to protect consumers from unsolicited messages and potential cyber threats. Over 3,000 registered senders have already whitelisted more than 70,000 links in compliance with the new rules. Senders who do not whitelist their links by the deadline will be unable to send messages containing any links.
