However, the new standards demand better efficiency for higher ratings.
Many consumers may notice a significant price difference between a 3-star and a 5-star AC, often about ₹10,000. While this might appear considerable at the time of purchase, the real difference becomes apparent after months of daily usage. For instance, a typical 1.5 ton 3-star inverter AC priced around ₹35,000 may consume nearly 1,100 units annually, which translates to roughly ₹8,800 in yearly electricity costs at a rate of ₹8 per unit. On the other hand, a comparable 5-star model costing around ₹45,000 might only use about 750 units, reducing the annual bill to nearly ₹6,000.
It's essential to understand that a 5-star AC is not merely about saving electricity; these models are often constructed with superior engineering. Many brands reserve advanced technologies like twin-rotary compressors, larger copper condensers, and enhanced airflow systems for their premium models.
