Japanese retailer Uniqlo plans to increase sourcing from India for global markets, focusing on items like T-shirts and heattech clothing, said Kenji Inoue, COO of Uniqlo India.
Currently, 15.5% of its products for Indian stores are sourced locally, but exports have a higher share. The company has grown at a 59% CAGR over five years, driven by India’s rising income levels and demand for premium products. In FY24, Uniqlo India's revenue grew 31% to ₹814.8 crore, with profits rising to ₹85 crore. It competes with brands like Zara and H&M while expanding to metros like Mumbai.
