Upcoming Vice Presidential Election in India 2025

The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the upcoming Vice Presidential election after Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation. Polling will occur on September 9, 2025, while candidates must file their nominations by August 21, 2025, and can withdraw until August 25. Dhankhar's resignation came unexpectedly, leaving more than two years of his term uncompleted. The Vice President is elected by an Electoral College consisting of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members. The process ensures a smooth transition and adherence to the constitutional mandate.
