UPI Transaction Limit Raised to ₹5 Lakh for Specific Payments

Starting September 16, 2024, UPI users can make payments up to ₹5 lakh in a single transaction for tax payments, hospitals, educational institutions, IPOs, and RBI retail direct schemes.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) raised the limit from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh to enhance convenience for these specific purposes. Generally, UPI transactions remain capped at ₹1 lakh, with a ₹2 lakh limit for capital markets, insurance, and foreign inward remittances.
