US Sets Student Visa Record for Indians

The US Embassy in India achieved a groundbreaking milestone by issuing 90,000 student visas in July and August, almost a quarter of all global US student visas. The US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, highlighted substantial reductions in visa interview wait times, aiming to process at least one million visas in 2023. Efforts have been made to streamline the visa application process, such as in-country renewable H-1B visas, and strengthen diplomatic relations. New consulates in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, along with an Indian consulate in Seattle, signify closer ties between the nations, with plans for additional Indian consulates in US cities on the horizon. This demonstrates both nations' commitment to fortifying bilateral ties and facilitating smoother visa processes.
