Vijay Mallya’s Assets Bring Rs 14,000 Crore Back to Banks, Says FM Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed the Lok Sabha that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has recovered and returned Rs 22,280 crore worth of assets to victims of various financial scams. This includes Rs 14,000 crore returned to banks from the sale of Vijay Mallya’s assets and Rs 1,053 crore recovered from Nirav Modi. The ED is also working to auction Mehul Choksi’s properties worth Rs 2,566 crore. Sitharaman highlighted the ED's effective use of PMLA laws to restore assets to rightful owners after charges are framed in court.
