VI's Stock Gains 2.2% on Supreme Court Hearing

Vodafone Idea's shares surged by 2.2% on October 10 as the Supreme Court agreed to reevaluate the telecom's Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues. VI, along with Bharti Airtel, has contested the AGR charges, claiming calculation errors in the 2019 Supreme Court judgment. VI argues that the imposed dues and interest are so burdensome that they jeopardize the company's survival.

VI further stated that the penalties and interest on penalties exceed the principal amount, prompting their appeal for a reconsideration. As of June quarter data, promoters hold a 50.4% stake, FIIs have a 2.3% stake, while DIIs own 33.9%, and the public holds a 13.4% stake in VI.
