The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 is creating a buzz as it gears up for its first mega auction, scheduled for November 27 in New Delhi. This auction is particularly exciting as it features a total of 277 players, including 194 Indian talents and 83 international stars. Among the notable names are recent World Cup champions like Deepti Sharma and Kranti Gaud, alongside overseas superstars such as Laura Wolvaardt and Sophie Ecclestone.

Five teams—Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz—are in the race to fill a maximum of 73 slots. This includes 50 Indian players and 23 overseas players. The minimum squad size is set at 15, while the maximum is 18. The marquee set includes some of the biggest names in women’s cricket, such as Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Sophie Devine, and Alyssa Healy.

Each team has strategized differently for the auction. The UP Warriorz, for instance, have retained only one player but enter the auction with the highest budget of Rs 14.5 crore. In contrast, the Delhi Capitals have the least amount to spend, with just Rs 5.70 crore. The Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have retained five players each, but neither will have a Right To Match option available during the auction.

Key retained players include Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Jemimah Rodrigues, showcasing the depth of talent across the teams. The anticipation around the auction is palpable, as each franchise aims to build a competitive squad, hoping to capture the hearts of fans and achieve success in the league.

The live telecast of the WPL mega auction will be available on the Star Sports network, ensuring fans can catch all the action as it unfolds. For those who prefer online streaming, the auction can be followed live on JioHotstar, both on their website and app. Be ready for an exciting day filled with surprises and strategic bidding as the future of women’s cricket unfolds in India!
