Zomato's shares dropped over 2% in early trade after the company received a hefty Rs 803.4 crore GST demand from the CGST and Central Excise Department.
The notice, covering October 2019 to March 2022, includes Rs 401.7 crore in unpaid GST on delivery charges, plus equal penalties and interest. As of 9:20 AM, Zomato's stock was trading at Rs 282.5, down 0.84%. This comes weeks after Zomato raised Rs 8,500 crore via a Qualified Institutional Placement. Investors remain concerned about the financial impact of this tax notice.
