5 Health Signs Every Man Should Recognize Before 40

28 Nov, 2025

Men often grow up believing they should be tough and self-reliant, leading them to neglect their health. This mindset can have serious consequences, as many diseases that were once thought to be problems of old age are now appearing in men in their 30s and early 40s. In a society that values productivity and strength, it’s crucial to pay attention to the subtle warning signs our bodies give us.

Dr. Aravind Badiger, Technical Director at BDR Pharmaceuticals, emphasizes five critical health signs that men should not ignore. The first is urinary issues such as straining, weak flow, or frequent nighttime urination, which can indicate prostate enlargement or even cancer. Many men dismiss these symptoms as stress or aging, but early evaluation is essential.

Next, testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer among men aged 20 to 45. A painless lump or sudden fluid buildup in the testicles requires immediate medical attention. This cancer is highly treatable if caught early, making awareness vital.

Additionally, persistent pain in the pelvis or hips, particularly if accompanied by urinary problems, can signal prostate disease. Men should not self-diagnose such pain, especially if it lasts for weeks.

Even minor changes, like a drop in urine flow, should not be ignored. While it may indicate an infection, it can also be linked to serious conditions such as bladder or prostate cancer. Early testing can significantly improve outcomes.

Lastly, low libido or erectile dysfunction can be early indicators of metabolic diseases or prostate problems. When these symptoms accompany urinary issues, it’s time to seek screening.

When identified early, survival rates for prostate and testicular cancer exceed 95%, and treatments are simpler, leading to a better quality of life. Young men today are at increasing risk due to stress, poor sleep, obesity, and unhealthy diets. Ignoring health signals allows diseases to progress; acting promptly can save lives.

Being responsible isn’t just about financial success or protecting loved ones; it’s about maintaining health to enjoy life fully. True strength lies in prevention. If something feels off in your body, don’t hesitate to seek help. Your health is invaluable.
