He himself uses an air fryer, noting that it can cut oil usage by 70 to 90 percent and reduce harmful compounds like acrylamide. Yet, he insists that simply owning an air fryer doesn’t make one’s food healthier.

One of the main issues highlighted by Dr. Vora is how people typically use their air fryers. Many tend to load them with frozen or ultra-processed foods, mistakenly believing that the cooking method makes these items healthy. For instance, air frying frozen momos, nuggets, or fries does not eliminate the refined starch, preservatives, or excessive salt present in these foods. The ingredients remain unchanged, even though the oil content is reduced.

Dr. Vora stresses that health outcomes are determined by what and how often people eat, not solely by the appliance they use. He points out that an air fryer cannot transform the nutritional profile of processed foods. According to him, the key to effectively using an air fryer lies in making smarter food choices. He advises that it should be used for whole foods and balanced meals, rich in protein and fiber, to truly reap the health benefits.
