Youth Mental Health Fundraiser by Shaina Mittal

13 Jan, 2026

In a remarkable effort to promote mental health awareness, 18-year-old Shaina Mittal from Chandigarh is leading a Christmas fundraiser aimed at supporting youth facing psychological challenges. Inspired by her own experiences of loneliness and anxiety during her studies in the United States, Shaina returned home and founded an event management company called Reveliq Events. She is now focused on creating meaningful conversations around mental health.

Shaina's initiative, named 'Sakushal' which means well-being, is in collaboration with Vatsal Chaya Trust, a respected NGO that works with underprivileged children and women. The fundraiser aims to raise funds specifically for mental health awareness. After covering operational costs, the proceeds will be directed to support Vatsal Chaya Trust's mental health programs.

As part of the year-long Sakushal Project, Shaina plans to work closely with Sangeeta Vardhan, the founder of the NGO. Together, they will conduct a series of podcasts, webinars, and awareness sessions across schools and colleges. Shaina believes that today’s youth are heavily influenced by social media and the fast-paced world around them, often leading to unrealistic expectations and pressure.

She highlights that teenagers today are constantly striving for perfection and immediate success, which can lead to feelings of inadequacy. Shaina expresses her desire to reassure young people that it’s okay to struggle and take a step back. Drawing from her own journey, she emphasizes that courage means moving forward despite fears.

In organizing the fundraiser, Shaina utilized her event management expertise to curate an exhibition featuring 10 diverse stalls, including food, lifestyle brands, and essential services. This event is not only a community experience but also a platform for sparking essential conversations about mental health.

The fundraiser will also include live musical performances by various bands, creating a vibrant atmosphere. A social night with popular DJs is planned to enhance community engagement and encourage people to come together in support of mental health awareness.

Shaina Mittal's initiative serves as an inspiring reminder of the importance of mental health conversations, especially among the youth, and her efforts are a step toward a more supportive environment for those in need.
